"I'm happy to see you have Morris' Barbecue of Hookerton listed. I've been eating there for over 25 years. Mr. Willie Morris used to cook his barbecue with wood only. Since Mr. Willie died, I'm not sure if his son is still cooking with wood or has switched to gas. It's still fine barbecue, though Mr. Willie's barbecue was, to say the least, excellent. "This is one of those finds lovers of obscure BBQ joints relish: A little funky hole-in-the-wall place, in a small town, only open on Saturdays, and then only open until they run out of food, but that food and the service are top-drawer. The Morris BBQ had some of the best 'cue I've ever eaten in the whole state, being fresh, hot, tasty, and minimally seasoned. The ribs which are often sold out before 9am are served bare, with just a hint of vinegar, border on transcendent. The sides a good, honest slaw, and some unique, almost fried-cake like hush puppies round out the basic menu. The people working here are amongst the nicest I've ever encountered, and although the building itself looks like a couple of fat guys doing a spirited clog dance inside could send the whole place tumbling down the hill, is spotlessly clean, charming, and simply the ideal place to eat chopped pork. Not an easy place to get to if you're from out of town, but worth the effort." Crispy of Rougemont, NC
